Privacy policy

Arkkoa is built so that there is as little about you as possible to look after. This page says what we collect, why we need it, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Arkkoa is run by [legal name of the organisation], [registered address]. If you have a question about anything on this page, write to hello@arkkoa.org. Somebody reads it.

The short version

  • No ads, ever, and nothing sold to anyone.

  • No directory of members, anywhere. Nobody can search for you.

  • Leaders cannot read your messages or your circles, and neither can we.

  • How you have been lives on your phone, not on our servers.

  • You can leave at any time and take a copy of what you wrote.

When you visit this website

This website is hosted by Framer. Like any host, Framer processes technical information when your browser asks for a page: your IP address, your browser and device type, and the pages you request. That is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and count visits in aggregate. We do not use advertising pixels, social media trackers or cross-site tracking of any kind.

If you email us, we use your address and your message to reply, and keep the conversation for as long as it is useful to you.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. When you make a choice in the cookie banner, we remember it in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask again. That record stays on your device and says only whether optional cookies are allowed.

If we add something optional in future, such as measurement, it stays off until you allow it, and this page will name it. You can change your choice at any time.

When you use the Arkkoa app

The app at app.arkkoa.org works differently from most social software, on purpose.

  • Your account. We keep your email address so you can sign in, and so you can get back to your account if you lose your phone.

  • Your communities. Only the communities you are in know you are on Arkkoa. Before you join, nobody can search for you, and no community learns that you looked at it.

  • Your messages and circles. Leaders run the door, the gatherings and the meetings. They cannot read your messages or your circles, and there is no administrator view of what anyone said.

  • Your halo. How you have been lives on your phone and is shown only to the circles you chose. There is no history of it on our servers, and no view of how a whole community is feeling.

  • Your votes. The count is public within your community. How you voted is not, including to the people who counted.

[With your developer, list exactly what the app stores on its servers, for example account details, community membership, gatherings and asks, and say how messages are protected.]

Who else sees your information

We use a small number of service providers to host and run Arkkoa: [list them, for example website hosting, app hosting and email delivery]. They process information only to provide their service to us. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We will disclose information if the law requires it and, where we are allowed to, we will tell you.

How long we keep it

We keep your account for as long as you have one. When you leave, you take a copy of everything you wrote and nothing of yours stays behind in the community. Technical logs held by our hosts are kept for [their retention period] and then deleted.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, and to correct, export or delete it. Write to hello@arkkoa.org and we will reply as soon as we can, and within the time the law allows.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to [your privacy regulator, for example the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or your local data protection authority].

Children

Arkkoa accounts are for people aged [minimum age] and over. Children are welcome at gatherings with the adults who bring them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we handle information about members, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
